We are a member of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.

The Barking & Dagenham College Student Union (SU) is run by learners for learners.

Its role is to support and organise activities and events, clubs and societies. There are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and to get your voice heard.

Advice & Support

Your SU also gives advice and support if you are having problems or if you need representation.  From August 2010 our SU became an official member of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). It means we can offer you even more guidance, support and resources during your time at College.

The SU can let your views be known at College committee level, so you can contribute to the running of the College and raise important issues that may be affecting your time as part of our College community.

All learners automatically become members of the National Union of Students (NUS – link opens in a new window). The NUS card entitles you to benefits including discounts at a wide range of shops and entertainment venues across London.

Could you be an SU officer?

Our Student Union is the voice of our learners. The officers provide support for anyone who may be having problems at College. Getting involved and becoming a SU Officer is also a useful way of enhancing your own CV, UCAS and job application forms.

Every year, our SU needs to recruit new officers from amongst our learners. If you would like more information or are interested in standing for election, then please contact the Student Union (based in the Refectory) by telephone on 020 8090 3020 ext 7440, or email Nadim Mea.
