Careers advice for you – before, during and after your course
Before you start
If you know what you want to do but need advice on how to get there, our careers advisers have the facts at their fingertips. They’ll help you plan your route to success whether you want to work and learn at the same time, study for a career progression or go onto higher education
During your course
Our dedicated and experienced advisers will answer your questions. Karen and Asadul are members of our opportunities coaching team, and are ready to find answers to any job-related problems you might have while you’re with us. If you need to know more about your courses and qualifications or to discuss your options, call on 020 8090 3020, drop into room A37 or email to get in touch.
After your course – finding work or continuing your learning
I’m off to work
We offer advice on finding suitable employment and on how best to complete application forms, construct good application letters and to compile a convincing CV. Our unmatched links to local companies and employers across the country mean we’re ideally placed to help you on your way.
I want to learn more
Why not continue your learning with us? Your familiarity with our facilities, and knowing the friendly faces on campus, means a stress-free next step in your education whether you study full or part time, to add to the skills, training and qualifications you’ve already gained.
And if it’s how you decide to proceed, then we are here to help you choose the right university degree course. Get in touch to discuss your options. [link to enquiry form]
College Careers Advice: For our most individualised, tailor-made service, book a one-to-one interview [link to enquiry form] with the College’s opportunities coaches or careers advisers on 020 8090 3020.
Online Careers Advice: Find your own best route to success through the Connexions / jobs4u page – you simply type in the job you want and the site tells you what you need to get it.
It’s a simple, practical site that very helpfully lists related careers you may not even have considered – it even lists the average salary you can expect (but remember a job in London is likely to pay more than an equivalent post in, say Scotland or Cornwall). A recommended first choice if you’re looking for hard facts or for inspiration.
