What qualifications do I need?
You should have a good standard of literacy and numeracy and normally should possess the AAT Level 2 Certificate and the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or equivalent. Mature learners with over 4 years working experience within an Accounts & Finance Function may be accepted without these formal qualifications.
What will I learn?
This is the third step of the ladder for people without significant accounting experience. On this course we provide tuition in accounting theory and practical subjects. You will learn:
Financial Statements
Financial Performance
Internal Control and Accounting Systems
Personal Taxation
Budgeting
Business Taxation
The AAT qualifications sit within the QCF in providing a competence based qualification. The QCF is a new way of recognising skills and achievement through the award of credit for units and qualification. It aims to provide greater flexibility and choice to gaining full qualifications.
How will I be taught?
Lectures; discussions and debates; group work; presentations and interactive learning.
How will I be assessed?
At this level of the AAT qualifications you are assessed by 6 computer-based exams, two of which are projects where you have to be successful in all to pass.
What could I do next?
The valuable role played by the AAT and its members is evidenced by the support and recognition given by over 40,000 employers in the UK and abroad. The AAT qualification not only provides you status and recognition for the Technician role but also gives you a route to a qualification with Chartered Professional Accountancy bodies: CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA etc.
