What qualifications do I need?
Candidates MUST be Practising Electricians and have relevant practical experience. They should also have a good working knowledge of BS7671 which may have been attained by attending the C&G 2382 17th Edition Wiring regulations course and recently obtained the C&G 2360 Part 2 or C&G2330 Lv3 or C&G 2351 Certificate. Candidates should be familiar with the application and use of test instruments. This is a Prerequisite!
What will I learn?
All our courses are designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out in suitable workshops, with theory work being a mixture of classroom delivery and assignment activities.
The course consists of an in depth analysis of the regulations for electrical installation testing with regard to the following:
Considerations relating to the inspection and testing process
Inspection procedures
Testing procedures and methods
Relevance of specific tests in the context of the regulations
Documentation and test results schedules

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by external City & Guilds written examination of 2 1/2 hours duration taken at the end of the course. Additionally candidates will undertake a practical assessment within the College on a certified installation which lasts approximately 4 hrs. This assessment is assessed by the College. A PASS grade is required in both assessments for the full certificate.
What could I do next?
Candidates who are successful will be deemed to be competent at the testing and inspection of electrical installations. There are no programmed further courses, but should you require approved electrician status the NVQ Level 3 Installing Electrotechnical Systems is available.
