What qualifications do I need?

As an adult learner you do not need formal qualifications but you will be assessed to make sure this is the right course for you.

What will I learn?

This course is for ADULT learners aged 19 or over. (GCSE courses for 16 – 18 year olds are available during the day but you will have to be enrolled on another course at the College as well. Please speak to our Learner Help Centre for more information.)

The course covers a variety of topics including:

Algebra – formulas, equations and graphs

Data handling – representing data, probability and averages

Number – fractions, decimals and ratios

Shape, space and measures – including coordinates, calculating lengths, areas and angles.

How will I be taught?

This will be primarily classroom based, with assignments, discussions, presentations during the year.

How will I be assessed?

There is an exam at the end of each unit throughout the year.

What could I do next?

GCSE Maths will provide you with a good foundation with which to progress on to Level 3 courses.

This is also a good preparation for work and is recognised by employers as a minimum standard.
