Step 1 – Finding the course that’s right for you
Every course we offer has its own page on this site giving you essential information such as who the course is for, what you will learn and what you can do next.
Find a course now.
We also have a printed Course Guide and you can request a copy by contacting our Engagement Services team on 020 8090 3020 or filling in the enquiry form here.
You can also download a pdf of the Course Guide (16MB)
Remember, there is also plenty of help available at the College to get you on the right course:
• Learner Help Centre – just call in - no need to book
• Phone us on 020 8090 3020
• Email us at engagement.services@barkingdagenhamcollege.ac.uk
Step 2 – Apply to join the course
When you find the right course for you, you can apply online or print the Application Form and post it back to us.
There is an on-line Application Form on every course information page on this site.
If you prefer, you can download an Application Form here, and you will also find one tucked in the back of our Course Guide. Once completed you should send it back to us at:
Engagement Services

As demand is high for lots of subject areas, certainly for most of our full-time courses, we would urge you to get your application form to us as soon as possible.
If you are applying for a Higher Education (HE) course you need to apply UCAS at www.ucas.com. We are not able to accept HE applications on our standard Application Form.
Step 3 – Interview and Assessment
We will write to you to let you know that we have received your Application Form and to tell you what will happen next. This usually happens within two weeks of receiving your Application Form, so if you have not heard from by then please do call us on 020 8090 3020.
For all full-time courses, and some part-time, we will invite you to come in for an assessment and interview or informal chat. There is no need to feel nervous, it is an opportunity for us to make sure that it is the right course for you. Just bring in examples of your work (if applicable) and talk to us about your previous experiences, knowledge and skills.
Step 4 – Offering you a place
If all has gone well, and the course is right for you, we will offer you a place. There are two types of offer we can make:
- Conditional: this means the offer is conditional to you getting minimum grades in your exams.
- Conconditional: there are no conditions attached to the offer we have made.
Step 5 – Enrolling to secure your place
You still need to come in and enrol in person to secure your place on a course. If the date and time we offer is not convenient for you, do please let us know as soon as possible and we can talk to you about alternative arrangements.
During the summer months we hold open enrolment sessions. This means you can come along, talk to our tutors and we get you on a course there and then. If you are interested in a course starting in September 2010 our Summer Enrolment sessions are:
