How to Enrol: Money to Study

Trust Funds

Most Libraries keep a copy of the Educational Grants Directory and other similar books for reference. Trusts give money to certain age groups, people who live in particular areas or are studying particular subjects at particular levels. See if you can apply to any of these. Each year many Barking and Dagenham College students successfully apply to trusts and listed below are the main ones, with an idea of the people they help although not all the criteria are listed here.

Family Welfare Association

In a covering letter explaining your circumstances and needs, ask for names and details of other trusts that might apply to you as the organization is also part of the Educational Grants Advisory Service. Pick up an application form from Client Services Office A23.

These are general points. You may like to ring the trusts and ask for an application form and check at the same time whether you could be eligible; otherwise check in the library or get back to us. Don't be discouraged if you are sent a form from a trust. This is a good sign and shows you'll be considered. Come to Client Services for help with applications and form filling.
