Chris Davies, media studies learner at Barking & Dagenham College, has just won one of the top film prizes in the iD East 2010 competition, designed to spot the very best creative talent in East London.

Chris, who is 19, presented and directed his winning experimental video “The Route to Happiness”, which so impressed the id-East competition judges.

Chris, who starts the second year of his BTEC National Diploma in Media course at the College in September, commented, “I was shocked when I won.  It’s really pushed me to do more.  My ambition is to make films and documentaries all over the world about issues which people don’t know about.  I want to see the world and bring it back home to people.”

The competition winners were announced at an awards ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall. As part of his prize Chris was joined by other id-East winners on a 5-day internship at a professional video production company, getting some valuable industry experience.
