About the College: Guidance & Support
Medical Services
Barking and Dagenham College has a nurse within the Directorate of Client Services and Marketing. The nurse is available for advice on minor illnesses, accidents and general health matters.

| Medical Conditions | All students are encouraged to complete medical forms to alert the nurse to enable the college to support their needs. |
| Emergency | The College provides trained first aiders should you suffer an accident. |
| Meningitis | Students 24 years old or under are strongly recommended to have the Meningitis C vaccine. This vaccine is available from your doctor. |
Services Available
| General Health Advice | The nurse can provide information on a wide range of health matters e.g. smoking, diet, exercise. |

| Health Screening | Basic screening can be provided on a range of health issues e.g. Blood pressure and weight check. |
| Contraception and Sexual Health Advice | A clinic is managed by the Local Health Authority. This service provides free condoms, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and advice, and sexual health issues. |
| Health Promotion | The college nurse supports health promotion events which are held within the college. |
| Local Medical Facilities | The College is just a few minutes from the new Queens Hospital in Romford as well as a couple of walk in medical centres in the neighbourhood. |
